About
We only write about places we love.
If it’s in here, we’d send a friend. If it isn’t, we just haven’t fallen for it yet.
Town Edit is an editor’s guide to the independent shops, good tables, green spaces and trusted trades that make a place worth living in. We started in Teddington, and we’ll move along the river from here.
We’re opinionated but generous. We recommend, we don’t review. You won’t find scores, stars or takedowns, just the places we think are worth your time, and why.
House rules
- The friend test. We only list somewhere we’d happily send a friend.
- We visit first. Every listing is written after an in-person visit, and dated.
- Specific about the good. We tell you what to order, buy or do.
- Helpful caveats only. “Cash only” or “book ahead” helps you. Criticism doesn’t.
- Quietly drop, never trash. If somewhere slips, it leaves the guide without comment.
- Money never buys a place in the guide. Partners are clearly labelled, and they pass the friend test first.
- Everything is reviewed. Tips, news and contributor pieces are all checked by the editor before anything is published.
