Café Benedict
Brunch from seven, steak and cocktails by nine — the High Street's all-day answer to "where shall we go?"
Named for the dish it does best, Café Benedict is open from 7am every day and doesn’t really stop until the cocktails. Mornings are for brunch, served until 5pm: properly made Benedicts, waffles and coffee from Alchemy. From noon the menu stretches to burgers, including the plant-based Big Ben, and dry-aged steaks from HG Walter.
It’s independent and properly family-friendly: there’s a kids’ menu with a colouring competition, dogs are welcome, and the menu turns with the seasons, with a special or two on the board. On Sundays from 5pm, Chicken Club does free-range roast chicken for the table (book by Friday noon).
