The Park is a Young’s pub with 44 boutique bedrooms upstairs, and it keeps the long hours of a hotel. Breakfast starts at 7am on weekdays, and the kitchen keeps going until 10pm. The cooking is hearty and unapologetically English, with heritage, seasonal British ingredients and a head chef who takes inspiration from the kitchen gardens at Hampton Court Palace.
Sunday is its big day. The roasts include 21-day aged West Country rump, rare breed pork belly and a vegan celeriac, chard and squash wellington, with proper children’s roasts too. Families are made welcome, and it’s a handy one for parties and Christmas gatherings.
